photonics_helper
A comprehensive Python helper library for photonics and optics: GNLSE solvers, soliton dynamics, Raman modeling, structured light, and FEM mode import. Published on PyPI.
An open-source Python library with all the pieces to build any photonics library. It helps photonics researchers and educators explain concepts through code and visualization.
What’s inside
- GNLSE solver. Arbitrary-order dispersion, Kerr effect, delayed Raman response, self-steepening, plus vector & multimode engines; soliton fission and supercontinuum
- Soliton analysis. Soliton order, fission length, dispersive-wave wavelength, and exact breather solutions (Akhmediev, Peregrine, Kuznetsov–Ma)
- Raman modeling. Full Raman response physics for 44 materials (glasses, semiconductors, chalcogenides incl. GeAsSe) with a SQLite material database
- χ⁽²⁾ nonlinear optics. Quasi-phase-matched SHG, cascaded three-wave integration, and an inverse-design layer
- FROG. SHG-FROG trace generation + PCGPA pulse retrieval
- Structured light. Laguerre-Gaussian / OAM modes, overlap integrals, Gaussian-beam propagation
- FEM mode import. Pull n_eff(λ) tables from Lumerical, COMSOL, or femwell into dispersion objects
Published on PyPI with hosted API documentation. The physics is stated against the literature and tested against analytic ground truth.
